Special June Crappie Trips

Hot sun and temperatures keep many fishermen in the air conditioning in the summer. But good crappie action awaits those willing to brave some heat and use a good technique for the conditions.

Scenic City Fishing Guide, Capt. Scott Lillie, spends the winter chasing walleye. When hot weather hits the walleye get tougher. But if you want fish for the freezer, no worries. Capt. Lillie has unlocked some secrets to trolling crankbaits for big summer slabs and he has lots of open dates in June.

“A huge advantage of pulling crankbaits is covering a lot of water," said Capt. Lillie, who pulls deep diving Walleye Nation crankbaits down to where big crappie are "cooling it" in deep water. He says, "It may not be the huge numbers of Spring crappie fishing, but routinely the crappie we catch trolling deep are BIG! And mixed bags, including the occasional walleye, is always a likelihood."

Capt. Lillie can accommodate up to three fishermen in his comfortable Tracker Pro Guide 175. Sit back, relax and reel in some slab crappie for a summer fish fry.
